Review - KVD Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad in Plum
Hey everyone! Today I am going to review the new Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad in Plum! You can find this online at Sephora and it retails for $26. There are three other versions of this quad: Rust (matte brownish reds), Sage (matte greens), and Smoke (matte cool grays). I chose Plum because I've been DYING for an all matte purple palette. Oddly specific? I know. But I think that purple goes really well with brown eyes and I haven't been able to find a solid purple palette anywhere. So when this came out, I had to get it. I'm also a really big fan of Kat Von D products, especially her eyeshadows and liquid lipsticks. This quad did not let me down, I haven't put it down since I got it. Now let me tell you why!
So right off the bat, I really like that this comes as a full eyeshadow look. The shades are named as what you should use it for (define, highlight, etc) and you don't have to reach for any other products! This makes this a really nice palette for traveling. These shadows are very pigmented and super creamy. It can make for some crazy fall out though so I suggest lightly blowing on your brush before you apply to cut down on the mess. All of the shades are really even and easy to blend out besides the "define" shade. It can be a little on the patchy side but definitely still workable. The "base" shade is definitely my favorite because it makes for a beautiful crease shade. The "highlight" shade may look just white in the swatches but in person it has a very faint lavender tone. It makes for a beautiful brow bone highlight. I absolutely recommend this quad, I'm obsessed.
So for this look I used the product a little differently than they say with the shade names. Instead of using "base" as well... a base, I used it on my crease. The shade "highlight" I put on my brow bone and on my lid. I used the "contour" shade on my lower lash line and smoked it out to the outer V. I then used a crease brush and packed on the shade "define" to add more depth to the look. This is a very simple eyeshadow method that I use a lot because it makes any eye shape look beautiful and defined.
