The July 2017 Playlist

July. Doesn't it just feel like backyard barbecues and summer sun? I love July. Eery year I go back home to South Carolina for a family reunion of sorts. We all gather at this beach house we've been renting for 25+ years, and surprisingly spend a full week together without killing each other. I love this time of year.

It's also the month right before school starts again. FML, right?

We've got new music from HAIM, a couple of songs by R I T U A L, and of course a classic by The Rapture because it just so happens my roommates and I are re-watching The Misfits.

Artist Highlight: @Charli XCX

Now let me explain why. Every week I go through what seems like hundreds of new songs to add to my own monthly playlist. This month, I came across Charli XCX's new single Boys. I have to admit, when I first pressed play I wasn't impressed. I also wasn't shocked by the fact that the last song I actually liked from Charli XCX was Boom Clap, a song I discovered off the 2014 movie The Fault in Our Stars

The reason why I changed my mind: I watched the music video on Youtube. If you haven't seen it, I've linked it here. I suggest if you have a distaste for the song, check out the video. It gives you a different perspective, and it's directed by Charli XCX. You might like it, you may LOVE it, or you may be like me and have a slight change in opinion towards Charli because the video is damn cute. But, you'll never know unless you watch it for yourself.

So sit back, relax, and press play.
