A tinge of good luck
One day I overslept. If you know me, you're probably thinking, "lololol, you mean like every other morning?" I don't know how to help the fact that my best sleep happens after my alarm goes off. I just don't know what to tell you.
Tangent: It works like this, my dreams just accept the alarm into the dream. All of a sudden my dream is of a boat trip that then turns into the Titanic and the shriek of the alarm just causes everyone on board to panic for fear of icebergs. Then I turn the alarm off and assure all the passengers on my Titanic-boat that there is no alarm and that Leo can get off the door now. I mean everyone does that, right?
So on a morning when you wake up late, getting dressed sucks. Maybe you originally wanted to fix your hair and put together that outfit that you just bought. Then you have to settle for your comfy-day dress, but you really didn't want to. I hate those mornings. I had intended to look fabulous, but the Titanic sabotaged me. Ugh.
One of those late mornings I didn't seem to have that problem. It was less of a miracle than a twinge of good luck. I woke up and instantly made sense of the mess on my floor of which I call my “wardrobe."
The key to a new outfit when you're not rolling in Rihanna's bank account is piecing old pieces together and maybe throwing in one new thing. For me it was a pair of black pants that I always wear with a white button down shirt and pointed toe flats. I just decided that morning to pair them with a different white shirt, a sleeveless one. Since I work in an office and have tattoos I opted for sleeveless with a summer blazer. My only summer blazer is a beige-linen Banana Republic blazer that I had recently thrifted for $7.25. It was my something new.
I had no intention of my morning gone wrong turning into an awesome new outfit, but it did with a really simple formula that I think I will be using a lot more. At first I wasn't so sure of the reactions I would get because of the different textures of each piece, but by the end of the day I had received a lot of positive feedback.
So try it sometime and let me know how it goes!
